The Plastics Circularity Transition Index (PCTI)
A new country-level index under development to measure plastics circularity performance and readiness, and help drive more informed action across the plastics value chain.
This whitepaper introduces the Plastics Circularity Transition Index (PCTI), a new index being developed by the Alliance to End Plastic Waste in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group. The PCTI is intended to describe, benchmark, and help drive progress in plastics circularity performance and readiness at the country level. The paper outlines the rationale behind the index, its intended objectives, and the decisions it is designed to support across the plastics value chain. It also introduces the PCTI’s two-pillar framework covering both circularity performance and readiness, highlights the features intended to differentiate it from existing indices, and presents the metrics currently under consideration. The first edition of the PCTI is currently under development.
